When she was 5 years old Heidi Swedberg received her first ukulele from the Hawaiian Easter bunny while living in Kailua, HI. She has fond memories of teaching herself chords and writing songs in her room in Albuquerque NM, the place she thinks of as home. She picked the instrument up again in 1992 in Hollywood, CA while playing a singer-songwriter for a network TV pilot. Now life imitates art, and she plays a musician full time.

My Cup of Tea

Like a good cup of tea, music is a social event; something shared, connecting us to other people, distant places, and to the past. Communion. Connection is what makes life rich. Share a cup with us and then pour one for someone you love. Lyrics, chords, translations and more are to be found in my blog.

In the spring of 2009 I had the idea to make a cd that facilitated teaching ukuele. Something a student could listen to and learn the songs, practice with. And enjoy. I called John and Daniel, and summer of 2009 brought us together in Albuquerque, NM. John and Daniel took the little songs I came with and worked magic around them, opening up John's vast instrumental closet and pulling out everything including the kitchen sink.

We rolled on the floor with laughter and had the time of our lives. The more we worked together, the richer things got. The kids got involved, we pulled in friends and piece by piece, PLAY came together.

Now it is your turn to collaborate with us. Put it on and sing, play dance along. You already know lots of these songs. Learn a few more, open the booklet and pick up a uke. Before you know it you will be making your own album!
